In 2018 store manager, Derick Eitrem and installer, Joe Greener decided to buy Weir’s Carpet Mart and start what is now known today as the Upper Peninsula Carpet Mart LLC.
In 2023 Upper Peninsula Carpet Mart LLC. expanded operations and moved from a small building in the heart of Sault Ste. Marie, MI to a larger store off the I-75 Business Spur. The newer showroom features a larger selection of flooring and a warehouse to store rolls of sheet vinyl, carpet, LVP, and tile. We carry the biggest selection of in stock flooring in the Eastern Upper Peninsula!
After the unexpected passing of Derick Eitrem in 2024, Alan Swanson became Joe Greener’s new business partner, helping to guide Upper Peninsula Carpet Mart LLC. into the next chapter. It was clear that the legacy of Upper Peninsula Carpet Mart LLC. would continue in honor of Derick’s vision and hard work. Alan’s extensive project management experience and shared values with the team made him a natural fit to step into the partnership. Together, Joe and Alan are committed to upholding the legacy that Derick built while continuing to expand and innovate the business. Their combined efforts ensure that the store remains a leader in flooring solutions across the Eastern Upper Peninsula, providing both exceptional products and dedicated customer service. With Alan’s addition to the team, the future of Upper Peninsula Carpet Mart LLC. is bright, and the company remains firmly rooted in its family-oriented foundation.
